THERAPEUTIC GROUND ACTIVITIES & RIDING LESSONS FOR ALL AGES

Experience the benefits of Equine ground activities or engage in the

soothing, therapeutic effect that horses illuminate upon us as we feel the horses movement during a therapeutic riding lesson.

Therapeutic riding lessons  and ground activities are available for qualified participants with special needs. The fee is $40. for a 30 to 40 minute lesson. Medical forms must be filled out and signed by the participant's physician for the safety of the rider. At Nixon Ranch participants can come for a mounted or unmounted session.

Participant’s family member or caregiver, is welcome to come and assist the participant if needed. This program can benefit the participant, cognitively, physically and emotionally through ground activities with the horses and/or riding activities. Participants may be engaged in any of the following during a session …

 

*Safety around horses

 

*Information & knowledge about horses

 

*Leading a horse through an obstacle course

 

*Grooming horses

 

*Equine anatomy

 

*Interactive games with the horses

 

*Painting on horses with paints & brushes to soft music

 

*Equine body language. How to communicate with the horse.

 

*Simple ground exercises with the horses such as stretching & breathing for relaxation and meditation.

 

*Hand grazing the horse

 

*Riding skills

 

Maximum of 2 participants per session, unless set up as a field trip for a affiliated organization. Session time can be customized per individual’s needs or group’s needs. Participants can come one time or can come weekly. Group pricing available for senior or other affiliated organizations.
